Today the ledges was flooded, so I couldnt do this shoot as planned! I was seriously disapointed until I saw little Ryan's shining face! He is one of the most joyful children I have ever met!Thanks for making the photo shoot so entertaining!

Foster Grandparents Rock!

Tonight I photographed the foster grandparents appreciation dinner! 22 foster grandparents volounteered to help in dozens of classrooms and help hundreds of students and teachers in Boone and Dallas Counties! I myself am so grateful for the foster grandparents at my childrens school, Grandma Rose and Grandma Mary! They spend days on end at the school listening to my kids read, helping with worksheets, and offering one on one help that would otherwise not be available! What an asset they are to my life! Words cannot express how grateful I am to have been a part of last nights festivities. The grandma photographed here is 92 years old and still a determined and contributiing member of her community! I hope I am this fabulous when I am 92!

Dumpster Diving!

My husband has long joked that I am a gypsy! I have a long proud heritage of diving into dumpsters for the right peice of junk! Our first apartment was filled with furniture I salvaged from the curbs on trash day! Last week I was visiting a friend and saw an old leather sofa beside a dumpster at her apartment building. My first thought was, why would someone throw that away? Knowing that my husband would likely divorce me if I brought it home. I had another idea! How cool would it be to have your family photo on a beach, a creek, a city scape, or here in the middle of a road! Thanks to a fabulous family for believing in my vision instead of running in terror!

Who saw my shopper ad? Calling all newborns!! Free Sitting and Free Newborn Gift! This is an old hospital baby photo of my husband! Just had to share! I purchased hospital photos of all 3 of my little angels-- and its a choice I will never regret! Today I had the great opportunity to photograph some amazing young people. Desire to inspire. That is Elevates slogan -- and it rings so true!

Children & Families of Iowa’s elevate is a youth-driven program that inspires change, compassion and connection for foster and adoptive youth in Iowa.

elevate members are youth ages 13 and up who have been involved in foster care, adoption or other out-of-home placements. We are young people who want to make a difference in the child welfare system. We come from every background and we all have stories to tell.

elevate's mission is to inspire others to new levels of understanding and compassion to the life connection needs of foster care and adoptive teens by sharing their personal stories of hope.

Being around Elevate was the best possibly way to start a new week! Truly an inspiration! Thanks Guys!
